The OH6 helicopter carrying an instructor, a crewman, and a trainee took off from the Kanoya base in Kagoshima Prefecture on Thursday morning.
The helicopter disappeared from radar after it contacted the base around 11 AM Japan Time.
A search team found the aircraft on mountains in adjacent Miyazaki Prefecture.
The 3 airmen were found at the crash site with no vital signs. They were later confirmed dead.
